Halloweenies

Happy Halloween!
Its always such a fun time of year, but with all of the recent crazy events in our life on top of being sick, we decided to keep Halloween low-key this year.  Next year, I'm going all out and showing those Germans how Americans keep it real.  I hope to evoke "those crazy Americans. . ." out of many-a-German mouth.  But we'll see :)

I'm always pleasantly surprised at how simple things with Weston and our pets can be fun.  We ran relatively painless errands all day while my "melt-in-your-mouth meat loaf" cooked in the slow cooker.  We handed out candy to the few trick-or-treaters that came by while Kingsley howled from upstairs in our bedroom (he hasn't quite mastered staying calm around small squealing children yet).  Pretty sure it added a spooky effect to our house.  But, um, let's talk about how kids don't even say "trick-or-treat!" when they come to the front door anymore!  I refused to give them candy until they did.  I was a little shocked when I opened the door and had the kids immediately shove their grimy little hands into my candy bowls.  Then not even a "Happy Halloween" as they walked away.  Not cool, kids, not cool.

(look what the pet red-eye reducer did to his eyes!)

I think there are only a few things that are more fun than sprawling out of the couch with junk food, candy, and soda to play endless hours of zombie and army video games with my husband.  After a couple rounds I decided that I was too far away from the t.v. to truly appreciate the gory graphics, so I pulled the ottoman up in front of the tv and Wes and I slayed zombies side by side like two little kids.  I kept thinking that if anybody walked into our house, we would be made fun of until the end of time.  Just imagine two adults sitting on a tiny ottoman very close to a gigantic tv gaming their little hearts out, accompanied by intermittent yelling and the barks of a humongous startled dog laying at their feet.  Excellent.  But honestly, who cares how nerdy we looked, we had a blast and I'm pretty sure we're the best battle buddy team out there.  :)

On another video game note, while shopping at the PX (Post Exchange--its pretty much a tax-free 'Target' on base for military only) yesterday, we stopped by GameStop.  We picked up a few accessories for our xbox360 and pre-ordered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.  Clearly, this game is popular among our soldiers. . .check out these decorations just to watch a preview for the game!

I think we can safely say that we had a successful and fun final Halloween in the good 'ole U.S. of A.  By the way, props to anyone who kept their boobs and butt properly concealed this Halloween--thanks for keepin' things classy.

I kept it classy! Unfortunately for me, there were several ridiculously inappropriate costumes I witnessed (and photographed). I'm going to have to send you pictures. You'll DIE.

Ohhhh! I completely was complaining at every little child that came to my door and didn't say trick or treat... I had to say "...now what do you say??" and they did not get treats until they said "trick or treat." Ha ha. I was shocked and appalled! On a happier note, I'm sure if Nate were here we would've had a very simliar Halloween as you two. Love it.
