Sheep

Today has made me realize that the Army treats us like sheep.  While attempting to get some really crucial questions answered about our move, Weston and I were herded from one building to another and in the process had the privileged of touring the same parts of Post over and over. . .and over again.

At times, I don't think that there is an organization that is more disorganized and uncoordinated than The United States Army.  For over five hours today we went from building to building trying to squeeze any information that we could out of the disgruntled civilian employees of Fort Benning.  Every time we thought we were in the right place, we were met at the door with "sign in and sit down" (15 minutes later. . .) "No, no, no.  Have you filled out form XYZ yet??  How about form ZYX dash 52?  No?  Well then go to building blah blah blah and talk to so-and-so to fill it out and come back in a couple weeks after its been processed through system blah blah."  Let me just say this. . .after this happens about 7 times in a row, it gets pretty darn old.  What's the cherry on top?  The civilians that work in these administrative positions have mastered the art of dishing out serious attitude.  I swear, if I have one more 4 inch fake nail with rhinestones and neon polish waved in my face, the wrath of Dana will be brought out in full force. . .

But there is a happy ending to this frustrating story.  When we finally sat down with someone who didn't mind doing their actual job (instead of just pawning us off to some other office--she was very nice might I add) we ended up having all the right paper work in all the right places and now are just waiting for our concurrent travel orders to come through from Germany.  A silly formality in which the German command has to give the thumbs up for Wes to bring his family (a.k.a. the pets and I).  Then its time to begin the process of actually "clearing" Fort Benning only days before Christmas leave. . .think we'll be able to find many smiling helpful faces?  Yeah, I didn't think so either.  :)

It takes that long to get your amended orders for Germany? We got our Italy ones within 24 hours! That's weird! :( I do have to say though, I completely agree with you about everything (how they make you go EVERYWHERE and how rude civilians are). I do have to say though that you may have some nicer people at your next post, not to say everything will be different, but something about Ft. Benning just doesn't make people that nice!

I hear ya! We spent all day doing the same thing; running from one room to another, filling out hundreds of forms, being told "youll have to talk to so and so". Its crazy! Especially lugging aroud a baby1

This was soo my life the other day. It surprises me so much how unorganized they are... you would think it'd be the exact opposite.
